Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What sort of people do you work with?

A: About half my practice is with individual adults. Some of my clients are successful people who want something more in their lives. I also work with people who begin therapy very distressed as the result of trauma experienced as children or adults. During my 14 years in practice I have seen many clients who started therapy quite depressed, isolated, angry, or anxious. I am a specialist in both ADHD and the recovery from trauma.

The other half of my practice is couple's therapy. I love working with couples because of partner's dedication to each other and their determination to forge a strong life together.

Q: When do see clients?

A: I see clients Tuesday through Friday at my office on Westlake Avenue on Lake Union. I have convenient times around the lunch hour for people who work close to my office. I do group therapy on Tuesday and Thursday.

Q: How long is a session?

A: Sessions are usually 50 minutes long. I sometimes do 75 minute sessions with couples when this is helpful.

Q: How often will I come in?

A: At the beginning of therapy you will probably need to come weekly to create the momentum that promotes change. Later in therapy every other week or once a month may be what's best.

Q: How long will it take?

A: Some matters can be resolved in weeks. Others may take much longer. We will discus this at the beginning of therapy and once I get to know you and what you want to accomplish I can make an estimate the time you will need.

Q: What are your fees?

A: My regular fee is $110 per session for individuals or couples. I accept insurance and almost every company pays for my services. I submit the claims for payment. I may or may not be in-network with your insurance. If I am not in-network your insurance will probably pay a smaller portion of my fee. I would be happy to check on that for you.

I have a sliding fee scale for a portion of my practice. If there are openings in that part of my practice and you qualify your fee would be reduced and depending on your income.

Q: What means of payment do you accept?

A: I accept cash, checks, and credit or debit cards. Payment is required at the time of service.

Q: Are you accepting new clients?

A: Yes I am at this time.

Q: How can I contact you?

A: Please call me at 206-271-1988 or use the contact tool provided on the website to email me. I usually return phone calls the same day. I am sometimes slower at returning emails especially on weekends.

Q: What if I have a question about something not covered here?

A: Please feel free to call and ask. When I am not with clients I answer my phone so it is relatively easy to contact me. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
